Nicole - Minneapolis Hair & Makeup Artisan
What makes your artistry unique?: Listening to my client’s needs. My initial education is in psychology and my initial career was counseling. I have a strong desire to help people achieve their goals; this is done through listening and being intentional with each client. Being a makeup artist allows me to help others and use my creativity.
What inspires you? Collaborating with other artists to create a photo shoot; story telling through photos can be powerful. Elaborate costumes from plays and movies. The different colors and textures of the costumes can help evoke a mood of a scene.
Style Icon: Diana Spencer, Lucille Ball, Iman, Katherine Hepburn and Debbie Harry. These beauties also have / had a strong sense of self.
Hobbies/Interests: Biking brings me a sense of freedom, photography gives me peace, movies show me different perspectives, museums help me create a deeper understanding, and sewing helps my creativity.
WarPaint Artisan Since: January 2017
Specialty: My first favorite style of makeup is natural beauty and everyday looks. I love to enhance the features a person already has. I have been fortunate enough to do makeup for fashion shows, video production, short films, web series, editorial shoots and last, but not least, working with brides.
Education & Experience: After receiving my B.A. in Psychology in 2001, I worked to help others succeed with their goals personally and professionally. But, I always felt there was something missing for me. In 2015 I decided to pursue my dream career as a professional makeup artist. I am thrilled I pushed myself to achieve my goals. I completed makeup artistry training at Faces Etc. of MN March 2015. I have also attended various trainings and shadowed other professional makeup artists in order to keep my artistic skills finely tuned.
