Minneapolis Hair Artisan. The world of beauty has always been a passion for Lori even at a young age; she would often style her friends hair for fun. Realizing she wanted to take this passion to a professional level, she enrolled in the cosmetology program at the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis.
Surrounded by talented instructors and peers, Lori crafted herself into a wide-ranging technician and artist. Absorbing all the practical information she was given, she often stayed late to work on advanced techniques with instructors. Through dedication and skill, she was picked by staff and peers to work side by side with fellow Aveda graduate and celebrity stylist Ted Gibson for a week of editorial work.
After years of salon work and working at makeup counters, Lori craved the extra focus on bridal updos, editorial work and boudoir sessions and became a freelance artist. She feels that every opportunity to work with a client is an honor and a way in which to create a magical experience. Whether on a shoot, or working with a bride, Lori brings her skills of artistry, attention to detail and ability to listen to her clients. She believes that continued education is important and attends several hair and makeup classes each year to remain current. The client is always the guide during any journey together, with Lori offering her ideas and direction to make the style uniquely perfect for each person.
Her hair artistry is greatly enriched by her talent of being a fine-arts painter. She has sold many of her works, with some hanging in public spaces. Lori brings this high- level of spontaneity, workmanship and creativity into all her love of being a hair artisan. She truly feels that her work as an artist isn’t done until her clients expectations are not only reached, but exceeded.
