Director of Education | Minneapolis Hair Artisan. Katie began her career in 2004 at Central Beauty School in Cambridge, MN. She became a member of the National Cosmetology Association inJune of 2005. In 2005, she went to work for Top Colour Shop in Hopkins, MN to further her education mainly in coloring, along with all other aspects of hair design.
Katie started as an apprentice learning the ins and outs of Schwarzkopf color and eventually worked her way to a stylist. She was mentored by Miguel and Babette Newman. Miguel was a national and international color educator for Schwarzkopf and Babette was a national educator for Schwarzkopf and Goldwell.
In 2009, Katie opened her own studio salon called C’est La Vie Studio under the franchise of Sola Salon Studios in Edina. In 2010 Katie became an artisan for Keune in which she attended yearly national artist conferences in Atlanta, GA and completed the following classes held at the Atlanta Academy: Color certification, Masters of the craft 1, Platform Fundaments and Color Faster. She had the privilege of being one of two artists asked to introduce and educate all of the U.S. Keune artists and management on Keune’s Keratin straightening system. She has had the privilege of facilitating classes with artists such as Shannon King, George Alderete, Chris Sulimay and assisting Roy Peters.
She has traveled regionally and nationally educating her peers on Keune color products, seasonal color, cut trends and techniques until she left the company in June of 2015. She is currently working at C’est La Vie Studio and contracting for WarPaint International doing on-site Bridal hair, styling, runway and finishing. Minnesota is her home but she loves to travel. One of her favorite things to do is to meet new people, making new connections and friends. Katie has many aspirations and goals set to further her career within the beauty industry.
